Job Location:
This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Roaring River State Park (12716 Farm Road 2239 Cassville, MO 65625) and Big Sugar Creek State Park (Pineville, MO). Schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday 7:
30a.m. to 4:
00p.m. (Half hour lunch break). During the peak season a minimum of two weekends per month along with occasional nights, and holidays are required.

Roaring River State Park and Big Sugar Creek State Park offer beautiful Ozark landscape and have nearly 7,000 total acres. Roaring River State Park offers a wide variety of experiences through the operation of day-use park setting, trails, camping, swimming, fishing, and a diverse cultural history. Roaring River is one of three trout parks in Missouri and is known for its cave spring, which pumps out 20 million gallons of 55 degree spring water daily. The mission of the park system is to preserve and interpret the states most outstanding natural landscapes and cultural landmarks and provide outstanding recreational opportunities compatible with those resources.

What you&s;ll do:


n

  • n
  • Oversee and manage the overall operation and maintenance of Roaring River and Big Sugar Creek State Parks, including operation and maintenance of campgrounds, day use areas, trail network, historic buildings and grounds, lodging, small maintenance and repair projects, capital improvement projects, visitor service functions and organized group camps

  • n
  • Supervise permanent, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer employees in the protection, maintenance, operation, and repair of state parks/historic sites, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment, and systems. Skill in managing and collaborating with staff

  • n
  • Plan and direct natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management and research for Roaring River and Big Sugar Creek State Parks

  • n
  • Plan and coordinate special events, group outings, and special program requests with a variety of stakeholders

  • n
  • Colaborate with other agencies and/or stakeholders always seeking for opportunities to partner to better serve visitor or protect resources

  • n
  • Skill in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and/or preparing federal or state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned program

  • n
  • Assist in resource stewardship activities

  • n
  • Ability to develop budget and project recommendations and perform administrative functions including revenue and procurement

  • n
  • Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park

Minimum Qualifications


n

  • Bachelor&s;s degree from an accredited college or university can include:
    Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field AND 5 or more years of management, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites. (Substitutions for additional education or experience may be allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator&s;s license

  • n
  • Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts

  • n
  • Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays

  • n
  • Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions and have the ability to lift 25 pounds

  • n
  • Ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff

  • n
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
